Protecting the People of God: "Fencing the Table"

When the walls around Jerusalem were complete, Nehemiah organized gatekeepers, worship leaders, and overseers to secure the city and its people. In a similar fashion, pastors, elders, and bishops protect their local flock against heresy and dissention. One area we see that is in what Charles Spurgeon called "fencing the table," making sure the sacraments are administered with accountability and integrity.
